The Madame’s Bone Oracle Reading 08.06.20

The Spirits chose SEEKER, HEART, and FIRE from The Madame’s Bone Oracle this morning.

Today we are being reminded to treat ourselves to the same love we give to others. SEEKER is each of us individually. HEART is love, caring, kindness, and affection. FIRE is passion and action. Society has led us to believe that caring for yourself, or putting yourself first, is selfish. Acts of self care and self love have been mistakenly equated with the toxic traits of narcissism and arrogance (when you see them side by side, however, the differences are worlds apart).  This had led to many of us putting our own emotional needs on the back burner, feeling unworthy of taking time for ourselves, and a general lack of self care. Lack of self care leads to lack of self awareness. We ignore our own emotional welfare in the ever insistent people pleasing, care taking, and perceived morally-driven martyrdom of always “doing for others”. We become so detached from our own needs that we don’t recognize the ill effect this has had. The Spirits are highlighting the need to reconnect to this with today’s reading. Self care and self love look different for each of us. Self care isn’t just bubble baths and naps. Self care is saying no when you don’t want to do something. Self care is not taking on more than you can handle. Self care is catching yourself thinking poorly of yourself and redirecting the thought to a more positive aspect. If you wouldn’t say it to another person for fear of hurting them, then why the hell are you saying it to yourself?! While we can benefit and thrive with love from others, if we don’t have it for ourselves, there will always be a deficit. That deficit creates a cycle of a need of validation from the outside. And that’s a need that can never truly be met. We can’t do enough, be enough, or love enough to please everyone. How can you give others what you don’t have? You can’t. Self love guides us to make choices that benefit us, but the bonus is that when we love ourselves, it benefits others as well! When we love ourselves, we become an example for others to love themselves. When people have self love, they are better equipped to receive love from others, and they are better equipped to give love to others without fear of the well running dry, so to speak. Imagine the power of that kind of love to create change in the world.
